MIA Detains Five Foreign Nationals for Illegal Migration
Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has apprehended five foreign nationals for illegal immigration. The detainees hail from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Nepal. They are currently held at the Migration Department's temporary isolator pending expulsion.
The operation was a joint effort by the Migration Department and the Border Police. The detainees were residing in Georgia in breach of the Law of Georgia 'On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons'. Besides the MIA, operations to combat illegal immigration involve close cooperation with advisory structures on migration and other specialized actors, although specific organizations are not mentioned.
The five detainees, comprising citizens of India, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Nepal, face expulsion from Georgia. Their detention reflects the country's commitment to upholding immigration laws and combating illegal immigration.
