Minnesota man charged with sexually assaulting teen after posing as minor online

A 24-year-old man from Bloomington, Minnesota, has been charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. Ahmed Abdullahi Aideed allegedly gave the teenager alcohol before engaging in sexual activity with her. Police now believe there may be more victims linked to the case. The incident came to light after the girl reported the assault to Shakopee police on January 29, 2023. She told officers that Aideed had given her alcohol at his apartment on January 24 before they had sex. According to her statement, this happened 'multiple times' whenever they met.

Aideed initially claimed to be 17 when they first communicated online, later telling her he was 19 when they met in person. Surveillance footage from a gas station later showed the girl with a man matching Aideed's description—wearing a hood and mask—on the night of the alleged assault.

Investigators also discovered that Aideed had sent the girl a nude photo via Snapchat on January 18. When police examined his account, they found images of other young-looking females, some appearing underage.

Authorities are now urging anyone who may have interacted with Aideed—also known as Richi or Riyo—to come forward. Potential victims could be in Bloomington, Shakopee, Rochester, or other parts of Minnesota.

Aideed faces two counts of criminal sexual conduct. If convicted, he could receive up to 30 years in prison and a fine of $65,000. The case remains under investigation as police work to identify any additional victims. Aideed's next court appearance has not yet been scheduled. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bloomington Police Department.
