Wilhelmshaven: Dead Dog Recovered from Ems-Jade Canal Near Rüderstraße
Muzzled Dog Found Drowned in Wilhelmshaven Canal Sparks Investigation
Authorities in Wilhelmshaven have retrieved the body of a dog from the Ems-Jade Canal in the area of Rüderstraße. Initial findings suggest the animal was a medium-sized mixed-breed, possibly resembling a herding dog.
The dog had a gray-black coat with patches of brown and medium-to-long fur. It was wearing a black harness. Notably, its muzzle had been bound shut. Police currently believe the dog drowned.
Investigators have not ruled out the possibility that the animal entered the water near Ebkeriege or Mariensiel and may have drifted some distance before being found.
Authorities have launched an investigation into a potential violation of animal welfare laws and are seeking information about the dog's origins, possible owners, or individuals who may be connected to the case. Witnesses with relevant details are urged to contact Wilhelmshaven police.
