NEOS’ Bernhard challenges Austria’s Economic Chamber over stalled reforms

On ORF's 'ZiB 2', NEOS' Michael Bernhard represented UNOS, discussing the Austrian Economic Chamber's reform. The Chamber's top officials, including Bernhard Langer and Sandra Bernhard, declined to appear, leaving host Martin Thür to adopt their position. Bernhard held up a sign with a UNOS petition link, pushing for Chamber reform from within. He argued that the Chamber, with its job security and guaranteed revenue, should practice wage restraint, having recently called for the same in other sectors. Thür and Bernhard debated the Chamber's employee raise calculation formula. Bernhard stressed the Chamber's duty to lead by example, while Thür questioned why no reform has been achieved despite NEOS' presence in government. The discussion followed a failed search for details on a UNOS proposal regarding Chamber reform. Bernhard's appearance on 'ZiB 2' highlighted NEOS' and UNOS' concerns about the Austrian Economic Chamber's reform. Despite the absence of Chamber officials, including Langer and Bernhard, the debate shed light on the need for change within the system.
