New BJP ministers in Bengal reveal priorities after swearing-in

The newly appointed BJP ministers in Bengal have outlined their priorities after taking office. Key figures include Dilip Ghosh, Nisith Pramanik, and Agnimitra Paul, each assigned specific portfolios. They have already announced plans to address pressing issues in their respective departments. Tapas Roy was sworn in as the pro-tem Speaker of the Bengal Assembly. The remaining MLAs will take their oaths on May 13 and 14.

Dilip Ghosh now oversees Rural Development, Panchayats, and Animal Resources. He intends to visit panchayats personally to strengthen fieldwork and improve local governance.

Nisith Pramanik, the minister for North Bengal Development, Sports, and Youth Welfare, has two main goals. He will investigate the Salt Lake stadium incident during Lionel Messi’s visit. He also plans to ensure Bengal’s players benefit from central government schemes.

Agnimitra Paul, the minister for Women and Child Welfare, has promised action in the RG Kar rape and murder case. She also stated that women can now safely work late in the evening. The new ministers have set clear agendas for their roles. Their plans include direct engagement with local issues, investigations into past incidents, and initiatives to support women’s safety and sports development. The Assembly’s oath-taking process will conclude within days.
