New city council sworn in with Dirk Schauenberg as Mayor and key committee chairs appointed
The new city council has been sworn in, with 38 members taking the oath administered by the longest-serving council member, Günter Zeller. Dirk Schauenberg was inaugurated as Mayor, with Claudia Wilke (CDU) and Ulrich Leikefeld (SPD) serving as deputy mayors. The council's committees have been formed, each with a chairperson.
Marco Jakob (SPD) chairs the Audit committee. The Election Review committee is led by Dr. Heiko Haaz (CDU). Dirk Hollinderbäumer (CDU) heads Urban Development, while Christoph Rudolph (CDU) is at the helm of the Building committee. Christian Pelikan (Alliance 90/The Greens) oversees Civil Engineering, Green Spaces, and Environment. Richard Stanczyk (SPD) is the chair for Social Affairs, Education, Culture, Sports, and Equality.
In his inaugural speech, Mayor Schauenberg stressed his dedication to collaborative work with the council, aiming to ensure the city's prosperity.
