New cross-party alliance takes on Northern Ireland Protocol and Windsor Framework

A new parliamentary group has formed to challenge the Northern Ireland Protocol and Windsor Framework. The cross-party alliance, led by Lord Dodds, brings together MPs and Peers united in their opposition to the current arrangements. Their declaration calls for the restoration of the Union with Great Britain and the protection of the UK’s internal market. The group’s founding members have signed a declaration rejecting the Protocol and Windsor Framework. They argue that the ‘Irish Sea border’ and the ‘imposition of foreign jurisdiction’ on Northern Ireland undermine the UK’s sovereignty. Key figures include vice-chairs Jim Allister MP, Baroness Hoey, Danny Kruger MP, Lord Lilley, and Sammy Wilson MP.

Dr Dan Boucher will serve as the group’s secretariat, supporting its coordination efforts. The alliance plans to expand by inviting additional MPs, Peers, and MLAs who share its stance. Their focus will extend to the Government’s ‘reset’ agenda with the EU, warning against any moves that could weaken Brexit’s core principles. The group aims to strengthen opposition through shared information and parliamentary action. By aligning their efforts, members hope to increase pressure on the Government to revisit the current arrangements.

The newly formed group will push for changes to the Protocol and Windsor Framework. Their immediate goal is to grow membership and amplify their voice in Parliament. The alliance’s activities will centre on defending the UK’s internal market and reinforcing the Union.
