Nordhorn’s ‘A Glass’ Event Champions Gender-Neutral Urban Planning Led by Women
Nordhorn recently hosted an insightful event, 'A Glass', centered around gender-neutral urban planning. The discussion, led by city building director Milena Schauer and equal opportunities officer Anja Milewski, delved into inclusive urban planning principles. More than 20 women from local politics and society attended the event.
The event, scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2026, at 7 pm, served as a platform for professional exchange and social networking. Director Schauer presented current projects in Nordhorn that incorporate gender-neutral principles, considering diverse usage needs based on gender, age, abilities, and roles.
Participants, including current and honorary councilwomen, representatives from SPD, CDU, and Greens parties, discussed the significance of inclusive urban planning. The event also announced upcoming women-focused cycling events: a women's cycling tour on September 9, 'Experiencing Safety' event on September 15, and a women's cycling learning course during the autumn holidays.
The 'A Glass' event successfully brought together politically engaged women to discuss and promote gender-neutral building in Nordhorn. Future events, such as the women's cycling initiatives, aim to continue this dialogue and encourage women's participation in the city's development.
