Oberried's Red Cross volunteers give 2,000 hours to community health in 2025
Record Volunteer Hours and Long-Standing Commitment Highlighted at DRK Oberried's Annual General Meeting
In 2025, volunteers with the German Red Cross (DRK) in Oberried contributed roughly 1,940 hours of service—over 300 more than the previous year, according to the DRK Freiburg district association. Beyond regular training evenings, the team provided support at around 40 events, including sports competitions like the Freiburg Marathon, as well as local festivals and traditional celebrations.
The local branch also made strides in training and health initiatives, offering multiple sessions on defibrillator use and organizing two blood drives with more than 200 participants.
A key focus was youth engagement: the Junior Red Cross currently has around 20 members. Overall, about 40 active volunteers drive the organization's work, backed by over 200 supporting members.
The meeting also honored long-serving members for their dedication. Ulrike Braun was recognized for an impressive 40 years of service, while others were celebrated for 35, 15, 10, and five years of membership.
The next blood drive in Oberried is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, 2026, at the Goldberghalle.
