Offenbach's utility company invests €391,545 in local culture and sports
Offenbach's municipal utility company allocates €391,545 to donations and sponsorships in 2025
In 2025, Offenbach's municipal utility company, Stadtwerke Offenbach, dedicated a total of €391,545 to charitable donations and sponsorships. According to the company, this figure has remained stable for years.
The funds support a wide range of public life initiatives across the city, including long-standing commitments to the Mainuferfest (Main River Festival), the Lichterfest (Festival of Lights), Offenbacher Kickers football club, and the Klingspor Museum. Additional recipients include several sports clubs recognized by the utility for their outstanding social engagement or youth development programs.
Funding for culture, sports, and civic life
Among the supported organizations are the Boxclub Nordend boxing club, JC Samurai Offenbach—a judo team competing in Germany's top league—the Fechtclub Offenbach fencing club, and the OFC handball team. Even in economically challenging times, the utility views these contributions as a core part of its commitment to the public good.
Peter Walther, the company's managing director, emphasizes: "For us, prosperity isn't just about economic success—it's about creating an environment where people feel at home."
Felix Schwenke, Offenbach's mayor, also underscores the broader social impact of the funding. "Through their donations and sponsorships, our municipal utility reinvests part of its profits back into the community," he explains. Schwenke adds: "This allows us to support diverse aspects of public life and demonstrate that we share responsibility for the people of Offenbach—beyond the traditional scope of essential public services."
A focus on long-term partnerships
The company states that its support is deliberately designed for sustainability, aiming to provide reliable, ongoing backing for projects and institutions rather than one-off assistance.
Walther stresses the importance of continuity: "Only through long-term commitment can we achieve real impact." He continues: "Sustainability takes time—especially when it comes to the vital integration work carried out by clubs in our diverse city."
