Pechora honors fallen heroes on 81st Great Victory anniversary
A solemn rally took place today at Victory Square in Pechora to mark the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory. The event brought together veterans, officials, servicemembers, and local residents under the motto ‘No One Is Forgotten, Nothing Is Forgotten’. The ceremony began with an honor guard from Military Unit 96876 laying a wreath at the ‘No One Is Forgotten, Nothing Is Forgotten’ monument. Servicemembers then fired a ceremonial salute in tribute.
Participants observed a moment of silence to honour those who never returned from the battlefield. Young residents of Pechora presented flowers to veterans as a gesture of respect.
Speakers at the rally included Oleg Shutov, Yelena Kostenetskaya, Colonel Denis Balashov, Angelina Misharina, and activists from the local branch of Russia’s Movement of the First. They expressed gratitude to the Soviet people for defending peace and stressed the importance of preserving historical memory and fostering patriotism.
The event also featured the ‘Blue Kerchief’ campaign, dedicated to the women who fought on the front lines and worked tirelessly on the home front. The rally concluded with tributes to the sacrifices of past generations. Organisers highlighted the role of collective remembrance in shaping national identity and honouring those who served.
