Russian Director Jailed After Fatal Roof Fall During Repairs

The Nadym City Prosecutor's Office has upheld state charges in a criminal case against the director of a contracting firm. The defendant was found guilty under Part 2, Article 216 of the Russian Criminal Code (violation of construction safety regulations resulting in death by negligence).

An investigation revealed that the man, responsible for enforcing safety protocols under a municipal contract for major roof repairs at a residential building in the urban settlement of Pangody, allowed an unauthorized individual onto the roof of a four-story apartment block in August 2025. The victim, who was not wearing safety gear, fell from a height of 13 meters and later died in intensive care.

The court sentenced the defendant to three years of restricted freedom and banned him from any work related to occupational safety and construction site regulations for two years, according to the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Prosecutor's Office.
