Russian Men Charged With Stealing Millions in Military Funds

Two men in Russia have been charged with large-scale fraud involving military funds. The suspects allegedly stole money meant for personnel serving in the special military operation zone. Both now face serious penalties if found guilty. The case centres on accusations of organised fraud under Part 4, Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code. One defendant is accused of stealing 10 million rubles, while the other allegedly took 3 million rubles.

A court has ordered the first suspect to remain in pretrial detention until May 24, 2026. The second will be held until June 26 of the same year. Prosecutors claim the stolen funds belonged to military personnel deployed in the conflict area. If convicted, each man could receive a prison sentence of up to 10 years.

The investigation continues as both suspects remain in custody. Their next court appearances will determine whether the pretrial detention periods are extended. A conviction would result in lengthy prison terms for the fraud charges.
