Wolfenbüttel braces for triathlon traffic chaos this Sunday
This Sunday, the Lindener Sportverein von 1921 e.V. (LSV) will hold its annual triathlon in Wolfenbüttel. The event, running from 11:00 AM to around 3:30 PM, will bring temporary road closures and diversions across the area. The triathlon’s running course will loop from Stadtbad Okeraue through the Wallanlagen before returning to the start. Cyclists will follow a separate route, also beginning and ending at Stadtbad Okeraue, passing through Wolfenbüttel and nearby locations. On these stretches outside built-up areas, a 50 km/h speed limit will be enforced.
Motorists will face restrictions, particularly when approaching the city centre from the south. Access will be blocked, so drivers must use Halchtersche Straße, Bahnhofstraße, and Harztorwall as an alternative. In Wendessen, traffic on the B79 heading toward Wolfenbüttel-Linden will be redirected via Wendessener Berg, Ludwig-Richter-Straße, and Cranachstraße. Authorities have stressed that safety for participants and residents remains the highest priority. All road users are urged to follow the temporary traffic rules and proceed with caution during the event.
The triathlon will disrupt traffic for several hours, with key routes altered or closed. Drivers and pedestrians should plan ahead and allow extra time for travel. The changes aim to ensure a smooth and secure event for everyone involved.
