Russian schools explore national values in final Conversations About What Matters session

Deputy Governor Yelena Vorobyova visited Krasnodar School No. 53 on May 18 to join a special class called Conversations About What Matters. The session marked the final meeting of the academic year, focusing on the theme Values That Unite Us. Vorobyova spoke with students about the principles she believes shape Russia’s identity and future.

Every Monday, schools and vocational colleges across Russia hold these themed discussions. Topics range from digital sovereignty and space exploration to conflict resolution and stress management. Since September 2025, educators in the Krasnodar region alone have led 35 such sessions.

During her visit, Vorobyova highlighted compassion, patriotism, historical memory, service, and hard work as core Russian values. She stressed that preserving these ideals is vital for the country’s progress. After the discussion, she answered students’ questions and wished them a productive summer break. The event also marked the start of voting for the Second All-Russian *Conversations About What Matters* Award. Students and teachers can choose the most meaningful lesson of the 2025–2026 year until May 22. The results will be announced on Children’s Day, as confirmed by the regional administration’s press service.

The final session of the year brought together students and officials to reflect on shared values. Voting for the award remains open, with winners set to be revealed in early June. The programme will resume in the next academic year with new topics and discussions.
