Saarbrücker Zeitung Bolsters Digital Team with Sven Eisenkrämer
Saarbrücker Zeitung (SZ), Germany's oldest daily newspaper, has bolstered its digital team. The digital desk, headed by Joseph Hausner, now comprises 13 editors following the addition of Sven Eisenkrämer. Eisenkrämer, previously editor-in-chief of bfp Fuhrpark & Management and its online platform, joins as deputy news editor, effective November 1. SZ's editor-in-chief, Peter Stefan Herbst, cited the expansion as a response to recent growth in reach and revenue.
Eisenkrämer brings a wealth of digital experience to SZ. Prior to bfp, he served as digital editor-in-chief for Springer Nature/Springer Fachmedien in Wiesbaden. His appointment comes as SZ continues to evolve in the digital landscape, building on its 256-year history. The newspaper, founded in 1761, is part of the Saarbrücker Zeitungsgruppe, which includes the Trierischer Volksfreund and the Pfälzischer Merkur. The Rheinische Post Mediengruppe from Düsseldorf is the majority shareholder, with additional shares held by the Gesellschaft für staatsbürgerliche Bildung Saar and an employee participation company.
Sven Eisenkrämer's appointment signals SZ's commitment to strengthening its digital presence. With his extensive background in digital leadership roles, he is poised to contribute significantly to the newspaper's ongoing success. The expansion of the digital desk reflects SZ's strategy to capitalize on its recent achievements in reach and monetization.
