Scandal and intrigue surround ex-minister's trial in Astana

Two years ago, Astana was gripped by the trial of Kuandyk Bishimbayev, the former minister of national economy. Around the same time, Russian blogger, psychologist, and coach Natalia Greis attended the court proceedings, as reported by our correspondent.

Soon after, her YouTube channel featured an interview with Bishimbayev's parents, in which they shared their version of events, their assessment of the situation, their son's character, and his relationship with the late Saltanat Nukenova.

The interview sparked mixed reactions and heated public debate. Some social media users saw it as an attempt, to some extent, to whitewash Bishimbayev himself.

We have noticed that this interview is no longer available on Greis's channel.

While some media outlets still retain hyperlinks to the video, clicking on them now brings up a message stating that the content is unavailable and access is restricted.

The reason for the sudden disappearance of the interview from Greis's channel remains unclear. However, the full video and individual excerpts can still be found on other YouTube channels.

In addition to Natalia Greis, Russian journalist and TV host Ksenia Sobchak also traveled to Bishimbayev's trial at the time. Notably, her report from the trip remains accessible on her YouTube channel, where it has garnered 11 million views to date.

Earlier, Bishimbayev's lawyer, Yerlan Gazymzhanov, told our website in an interview that no payment was made to Natalia Greis.

"There were rumors that Bishimbayev allegedly paid Natalia Greis 100,000 rubles to come from Moscow to support him. That's complete nonsense. His mother—who is over 80 and knows nothing about social media—found Natalia Greis and invited her? That doesn't make sense; we didn't even know her."
