Söder insults Reichinnek as 'socialist TikTok aunt' - Söder slams fuel price hikes and Left Party's 'arrogance' in fiery speech

At a political Ash Wednesday event, CSU leader Markus Söder launched a scathing attack on Left Party politician Heidi Reichinnek, dismissing her as a "poor man's Rosa Luxemburg."

"Take our dear 'Red Heidi,' the socialist TikTok auntie, the Rosa Luxemburg for the working class," Söder told the crowd. "Now I've seen that she drives an Audi. Look, I get it. But for credibility's sake, maybe she should switch to a Trabant or a Lada instead of misusing Bavarian products like that."

The CSU chairman used his speech at the traditional political Ash Wednesday gathering in Passau to mock Reichinnek, the Left Party's parliamentary group leader in the Bundestag, over reports that she drives an Audi.

In his address, Söder also flatly rejected any increases in taxes or levies. "The inheritance tax will not be raised—I guarantee you that," the Bavarian minister-president declared. He criticized what he called the Left Party's arrogance, suggesting they believed they knew best what to do with other people's hard-earned property.

Söder also categorically opposed higher fuel prices for gasoline and diesel in Germany. "That won't happen on the CSU's watch," he said. "We still need cars in rural areas." He emphasized that the CSU is the "party of rural Germany" and had pushed for an increase in the commuter allowance to offset rising fuel costs. "We're demanding €350 a year for everyone who commutes more than 50 kilometers," he stated.
