Sverdlovsk Oblast honors Victory Day with region-wide celebrations and upgraded venues
Residents of Sverdlovsk Oblast are marking the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War with events across the region. Hundreds of venues will host celebrations, including commemorative gatherings, competitions, and concerts. Many will take place in recently upgraded public spaces under the Comfortable Urban Environment initiative. In Bogdanovich, the Park of Culture and Recreation will host the Soldier’s Star military-patriotic competition on May 8. Over 500 participants are expected to take part. The park will also feature the Victory Starts sports program, the May Waltz event, a festive concert, and fireworks on May 9.
Asbest has prepared its Alley of Victory near the Great Patriotic War Memorial Complex for solemn commemorative events on May 9. The area was recently upgraded with renovations to Forum Square, including a modern stage, fountains, lighting, and flower beds as part of the national Infrastructure for Life project.
In Revdinsky District, a commemorative event will be held on May 9 at the Monument to Local Heroes. The monument was restored last year with the involvement of Sverdlovsk Oblast Governor Denis Pasler.
Polevskoy’s Southernmost Park, revitalised after winning an all-Russian competition, will host a memorial event, a concert, the Soldier’s Porridge campaign, and a marketplace on May 9. The celebrations span multiple towns and districts in Sverdlovsk Oblast. Upgraded public spaces and restored monuments provide the backdrop for many of the events. The region is honouring the anniversary with a mix of remembrance, cultural activities, and community gatherings.
