Sverdlovsk Region honors Marshal Zhukov in solemn World War II ceremony
A ceremony was held in Sverdlovsk Region to honour Marshal Georgy Zhukov, a key figure in World War II. The event took place at the square outside the Central Military District headquarters. Officials and veterans gathered to pay their respects. The memorial to Zhukov was produced at Uralmash Plant ahead of the 50th anniversary of the Great Victory. Several similar monuments exist across the Middle Urals, including the one at the ceremony’s location.
Acting Commander Dmitry Ovcharov, servicemembers, veterans, and other officials laid flowers at the monument. Governor Denis Pasler also joined the tribute. Later, Pasler attended an awards presentation where distinguished servicemembers received honours. The ceremony marked a day of remembrance for Marshal Zhukov’s legacy. The event highlighted his strong ties to the Sverdlovsk Region. Flowers were laid, and awards were given to recognise military service.
