Sverdlovsk’s Local Heroes Shine in ‘Service to the Nation’ Awards
Governor Denis Pasler of Sverdlovsk Region has highlighted the crucial role of municipal professionals in enhancing local development and citizens' quality of life. Meanwhile, applications are open for the prestigious 'Service to the Nation' award, recognizing outstanding municipal community members. Notable projects from the region have already won awards, with more categories set to be introduced in 2026.
The 'Service to the Nation' award, established by President Vladimir Putin, has honored Maria Smirnova's project 'No One But Us' in the 'Every Initiative—Our Shared Success' category. This project transformed public spaces and built sports facilities in Tagil, demonstrating the impact of local initiatives. Two municipal district heads from Sverdlovsk Oblast are representing the region at the 'Small Homeland—the Strength of Russia' forum in Mineralnye Vody.
Governor Pasler has invited municipal employees to participate in the third national municipal award 'Service to the Nation'. Previous winners from Sverdlovsk Region showcase the high calibre of its municipal employees. In 2026, two new special categories will be added to the award, recognizing those transitioning from military service to municipal roles and skilled professionals shaping the future of municipalities. The 'Summer Journalism School' project, led by Marina Paletskikh, won second place in the 'Young Talent in Service to the Nation' category, highlighting the potential of youth in municipal service.
Applications for the 3rd All-Russian Municipal Award 'Service to the Nation' are open until November 21 at premiyasluzhenie.rf. The award is organized by the All-Russian Association for Local Self-Government Development and the Presidential Administration. Notably, Governor Pasler himself was not nominated for the award, reflecting the focus on grassroots contributions rather than political figures.
