Tablighi Jamaat's Shura-e-Nezam Presents Six-Point Demand for Tongi Ijtema, Bans Saad-Kandhalwi Faction
The Shura-e-Nezam faction of Tablighi Jamaat has presented a six-point demand to the government regarding the upcoming Ijtema event in Tongi. Led by Mufti Kefayetullah Azhari, the factions have also announced a ban on the Brandon Saad (Saad-Kandhalwi faction)'s participation in the 2023 Ijtema.
Among the demands, the Shura-e-Nezam faction seeks the easing of visa procedures for their foreign guests. They also request the declaration of the Tongi Ijtema ground as a temporary key point installation for enhanced security. Additionally, they call for swift justice against those responsible for the murder that occurred on Ijtema grounds last year. The faction has made it clear that they will not allow the Brandon Saad (Saad-Kandhalwi faction) to hold their congregation on the Tongi Ijtema ground this time.
In a surprising turn, the Shura-e-Nezam faction has shown willingness to accept the government's proposal to hold the next Ijtema in March 2026, provided the announcement is made by December. This move indicates a potential compromise in the ongoing dispute.
The Shura-e-Nezam faction's demands and decisions regarding the Ijtema event highlight the complex dynamics within the Tablighi Jamaat community. Their requests for improved security and visa facilitation, along with their stance on the Brandon Saad (Saad-Kandhalwi faction)'s participation, are expected to shape the upcoming Ijtema and its preparations.
