Three-vehicle crash in Salzgitter leaves woman critically injured
Serious Traffic Collision in Salzgitter-Hallendorf, Nord-Süd-Straße, March 26, 2026, around 9:00 AM
A 65-year-old man was driving his car (a Ford) along Nord-Süd-Straße toward the intersection at Diebesstieg when he collided with the vehicle ahead of him—a 58-year-old driver's Opel, which was stationary due to traffic. The impact pushed the Opel into oncoming traffic. A 50-year-old woman driving a Volkswagen in the opposite direction was unable to avoid the collision, resulting in a head-on crash.
According to current information, the 65-year-old Ford driver sustained no injuries. The 58-year-old Opel driver and his 58-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to Braunschweig Hospital for further treatment. The 50-year-old Volkswagen driver sustained severe injuries, including suspected cervical spine trauma and thoracic injuries, and was transported to Helios Hospital in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt.
All three vehicles were rendered undriveable after the accident and had to be towed.
