Ukraine deepens defence ties with Palantir as CEO slams Europe's tech spending

Ukraine is set to strengthen its collaboration with Palantir Technologies after a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the company’s CEO, Alex Karp. The discussions focused on expanding the use of defence software that has already played a key role in Ukraine’s military operations.

During his visit, Karp praised Ukrainian forces for building one of the world’s most advanced defence systems while relying on Palantir’s platforms as a foundation. Karp described Palantir’s role in Ukraine as similar to an operating system for warfare. The software helps coordinate critical functions, yet Ukrainian developers have full control over the code used for air defence and target acquisition. He stressed that, despite integration, Palantir itself has no access to sensitive military data.

The CEO also criticised Europe’s defence spending, warning that billions were being wasted on untested technologies. He argued that politically connected firms were pushing inferior solutions while ignoring Ukraine’s proven systems. Karp urged European nations to invest instead in Ukrainian-developed technologies, which have been battle-tested during the ongoing conflict.

His comments came as Ukraine announced plans to deepen its partnership with Palantir. The country has already adapted parts of the company’s software but has independently built many of its own combat tools. The meeting between Zelenskyy and Karp signals closer ties between Ukraine and Palantir. Ukrainian forces will continue refining their defence systems with support from the company’s platforms. Meanwhile, Karp’s call for Europe to adopt Ukrainian innovations could reshape regional defence strategies in the coming years.
