Umno wings slam Negeri Sembilan's relocation of Balai Undang personnel
Three wings of Negeri Sembilan Umno have criticised the state government’s decision to relocate personnel from the Balai Undang Luak Sungei Ujong. The directive, issued on 29 April 2026, also ordered occupants to vacate the building’s official residence. Umno’s Wanita, Youth, and Puteri divisions called the move insensitive and poorly timed.
The three wings argued that the state’s actions were inappropriate, as they may have interfered with ongoing customary processes. They described the decision as hasty and lacking consideration for existing disputes.
Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi later clarified that the wings’ statements were individual opinions. He stressed that Barisan Nasional’s representation in the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly follows party decisions—and these must be respected. The criticism specifically targeted Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun. However, Zahid reiterated that no-confidence remarks from the wings did not reflect the party’s official stance.
The dispute centres on the relocation order and its perceived insensitivity. The state government’s directive remains in place, while Umno’s internal divisions have made their concerns public. The outcome will depend on how both sides address the customary and political issues involved.
