Verkhoturye honors Victory Day with cultural and sporting events across the city

Verkhoturye will mark Victory Day with a full programme of cultural and commemorative events. The celebrations begin at 10:00 a.m. on City Square with the opening of an art exhibition featuring works by students from the fine arts department at the local Children’s School of the Arts. At 10:00 a.m., interactive zones will open on City Square, offering activities such as a field kitchen, market stalls, and fairground attractions. These will run until 1:00 p.m.

The square’s festive programme continues at 11:00 a.m. with the concert 'Thank You for Peace', dedicated to the heroism of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War. At 11:45 a.m., the Verkhoturye Drummers’ Ensemble will take the stage.

At 12:00 p.m., a solemn ceremony titled 'Glory Never Fades, Traditions Live On!' will be held at the Memorial to the Fallen of Verkhoturye. This event commemorates the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

In the afternoon, the Olymp Stadium will host the traditional track-and-field relay race at 1:30 p.m. From 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Mayak Cinema will screen films such as 'Up the Magic Tree', 'Angels of Ladoga', 'Seven Versts Till Dawn', and 'Litvyak'. The Cultural Center will also hold workshops in decorative and applied arts, including making 'Doves of Peace' and designing 'Victory Postcards'.

Oblastnaya Gazeta reported that Oblastnoye Television and Channel 4 will broadcast a special telethon on Victory Day. The day’s events will feature a mix of cultural, artistic, and sporting activities. Residents and visitors will have multiple opportunities to participate in commemorations and celebrations across the city.
