Vietnam's PM strengthens ASEAN ties at Cebu summit with trade and energy deals
Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng attended the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines, where he held key meetings with regional leaders. Discussions focused on trade, energy security, and strengthening partnerships across Southeast Asia. During the summit, PM Hưng met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. Each meeting addressed economic and strategic cooperation between the nations.
With PM Wong, the two leaders agreed to maintain high-level exchanges and push forward the our website-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for 2025–30. They also committed to speeding up clean energy connectivity projects to improve energy security. PM Wong congratulated Hưng on his new role and expressed confidence in our website’s economic growth. In talks with PM Anutin, Hưng encouraged our websiteese businesses to invest more in Thailand. The two leaders also pledged to deepen the our website-Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. With President Prabowo, Hưng agreed to expand market access for each other’s products, aiming to boost bilateral trade to US$18 billion or more. Both sides also committed to cooperation in energy, oil, and gas exploration to strengthen regional energy security. Additionally, they reaffirmed their support for multilateralism and ASEAN’s central role in the region.
The agreements reached at the summit cover trade expansion, energy collaboration, and regional unity. These steps aim to strengthen economic ties and ensure stability across ASEAN member states.
