Wiesbaden Seeks Nominations for 2026 Culture Prize: Residents Can Propose Dedicated Cultural Figures Until April 30

Wiesbaden Opens Nominations for 2026 Culture Prize Worth €10,000

The city is once again looking for those who bring stages to life, open spaces, and spark debates. The Wiesbaden Culture Prize, awarded by the state capital, is entering a new round—and with it comes an invitation to all residents to have their say in shaping the city's cultural landscape.

Celebrating Those Who Shape Wiesbaden

The 2026 Culture Prize honors artists, initiatives, institutions, and projects that sustainably enrich cultural life in Wiesbaden. Whether they experiment, challenge, inspire, or connect—all contributions matter. The award, endowed with €10,000, recognizes not just a single achievement but an enduring commitment.

By the end of the year, the grand hall of City Hall will open its doors for a ceremonial presentation of the prize. But first, the city needs nominations—and they must come from the community itself.

Submit Nominations—No Public Voting

All Wiesbaden residents aged 16 and older can participate. Until Thursday, April 30, the Cultural Affairs Office is accepting reasoned nominations—via email at [email protected] or by post to Kulturamt, Schillerplatz 1-2, 65185 Wiesbaden.

A few key points: Self-nominations are not permitted, and previous nominees are not automatically reconsidered. Anyone wishing to renominate someone must do so actively. Also, this is not a public vote—multiple mentions do not improve a nominee's chances. Every submission carries equal weight.

A Jury Makes the Final Decision

In the end, a jury will review all nominations. The city's cultural affairs commissioner, representatives from each faction of the city council, and the head of the Cultural Affairs Office will deliberate, assess, and decide. Their focus will be on impact, continuity, and courage—not just fame.
