Willich secures €532K from state's €1B sports funding revolution
The state government has announced a major funding boost for sports, totalling nearly €1 billion. A significant portion of this investment will go towards local clubs and facilities, with Willich set to receive over half a million euros. The move aims to improve training conditions and support volunteer-led sports programmes.
The funding package breaks down into several key areas. A total of €600 million will be spent on infrastructure, with €200 million each allocated to sports facilities, swimming pools, and sports clubs. An additional €375 million will be distributed over the next five years through the sports grant programme.
Willich has been awarded €532,797 from this fund. The Willich Municipal Sports Association will manage the distribution, deciding how the money is divided among local clubs. The funds are intended to strengthen clubs, upgrade training conditions, and assist volunteers who run sports activities in the area. CDU state parliamentarian Guido Görtz publicly welcomed the decision. He highlighted the importance of the investment for Willich’s sports community, noting that it would help sustain and expand local programmes.
The state’s €1 billion sports investment will roll out over the coming years. Willich’s share of the funding will directly benefit clubs, facilities, and volunteers. The Municipal Sports Association will now determine how best to allocate the €532,797 to meet local needs.
