Wolfsburg: Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße Tops This Year's Road Resurfacing List
Wolfsburg fast-tracks major roadworks on Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße this summer
The renovation of Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße is the top priority in the city administration's pavement repair program for this year. The section between Lessingstraße and Schachtweg is scheduled for work during the summer holidays, with both directions to be resurfaced in succession. The estimated cost of the project is approximately €530,000. The city council is expected to approve the plans at its March session, according to a municipal statement.
"Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße is one of our major projects. For several years now, we've been renovating this key traffic artery in stages, always aiming to minimize disruption. That's why we're taking advantage of the summer break again this year," explained First City Councilor and Head of Urban Development Kai-Uwe Hirschheide.
Road in Urgent Need of Repair
The renovation has become essential due to severe rutting, cracking, and numerous patched sections. A total of around 5,200 square meters of asphalt pavement will be restored, requiring the existing surface layer to be removed to a depth of 20 centimeters. The construction site will be organized to keep one lane open in each direction throughout the work.
Contrary to earlier plans, both directions of Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße will be renovated this summer. To achieve this, the second phase of work (inbound toward the city center), originally slated for 2027, has been moved forward. The city administration will provide timely updates on traffic management and the exact start date for the construction.
