Wyoming man charged after hammer attack on wife thwarted by Amazon driver
A 72-year-old man in Wyoming, Minnesota, has been charged with attempting to murder his wife with a hammer. The attack was witnessed by an Amazon delivery driver, who intervened and called emergency services. The incident unfolded when the delivery driver spotted the assault and immediately dialled 911. Police later found the victim with two large, bloody wounds on her head, matching hammer strikes. The husband admitted to hitting her twice and planned to knock her unconscious before killing her.
During the attack, the woman fought back by kicking her husband in the crotch. Authorities revealed that financial struggles may have motivated the crime. The man, a general manager at a struggling business, reportedly did not want his wife to rely on reduced Social Security payments. He now faces charges of first-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
The victim survived the attack after the delivery driver’s quick action. The husband remains in custody, with court proceedings expected to follow. The case highlights the role of a bystander in preventing a potentially fatal outcome.
