Yakutia's political shift as two key figures vie for State Duma seats
Politics
YAKUTIA.INFO. Ivan Lutskan, the incumbent deputy of the Il Tumen, has announced that he has submitted documents to participate in United Russia's preliminary voting. The politician intends to compete for a spot on the party list for nomination to Russia's State Duma.
In his statement, Lutskan emphasized that helping people and addressing their pressing concerns have long been part of his professional routine—both as a physician and as a lawmaker. He reaffirmed his commitment to the party and his dedication to Yakutia's development.
"I want positive change to continue, and I am ready to devote all my efforts to making it happen," Lutskan declared.
Yesterday, Pyotr Shamaev, Yakutia's Minister for Youth Affairs and Social Communications and a participant in the special military operation, also filed his documents for United Russia's preliminary vote. He became the first candidate to submit his application to the party's regional organizing committee.
Shamaev is seeking nomination as a State Duma deputy in a single-mandate constituency in the upcoming autumn elections.
Observers note that the decision to nominate Shamaev in a single-mandate district—while Lutskan runs on the party list—may signal Yakutia's authorities' intent to make the special military operation a central theme of their election campaign.
