Yekaterinburg tightens e-scooter and alcohol rules for Victory Day safety

Ahead of Victory Day festivities, Yekaterinburg Mayor Alexei Orlov has imposed temporary restrictions on e-scooter rentals and retail alcohol sales.

Under a mayoral decree, shared scooters will be banned within the area bounded by Chelyuskintsev Street, Moskovskaya Street, Malyshev Street, Karla Libknekht Street, Nikolai Nikonov Street, and Krasny Lane. The restrictions will apply during the parade rehearsal—from 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 5, to 2:00 AM on Wednesday, May 6—as well as on Victory Day itself, from 12:10 AM on Saturday, May 9, to 5:00 AM on Sunday, May 10.

Alcohol sales will be prohibited on May 9 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM in the same central district (bounded by Moskovskaya, Malyshev, Karla Libknekht, Nikolai Nikonov, Krasny Lane, and Chelyuskintsev streets). Additionally, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the ban will extend to Elmash Family Park, Starykh Bolshevikov Street (from Entuziastov Street to Baumana Street), and Baumana Street (from house No. 23 to house No. 44). On May 8, from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM, alcohol sales will also be suspended in the Akademichesky District, specifically within Preobrazhensky Park (bounded by Akademika Parina Street, Wilhelm de Gennin Street, Akademika Sakharov Prospect, and Chkalov Street).
