Zamboanga launches 'Be Wise' campaign for ethical digital conduct among officials
The City Government of Zamboanga has launched a new campaign to promote ethical behaviour in digital communications. Called 'Be Wise', the initiative was introduced on May 11, 2026, during a flag ceremony at Zamboanga City Hall grounds. It targets local officials and employees, urging responsible social media use. The campaign is led by the City Human Resource Management Office. Its goal is to guide professional conduct on digital platforms and in public communications. Four key principles form its foundation: 'Watch your words', 'Identify your boundaries', 'Stay neutral', and 'Engage responsibly'.
Mayor Khymer Olaso highlighted the importance of discipline and integrity in public service. He noted that responsible social media use helps build public trust in government institutions. The initiative is grounded in Republic Act No. 6713, the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees. The 'Be Wise' campaign sets clear expectations for ethical behaviour among Zamboanga’s government workers. It reinforces accountability and professionalism in their online and public interactions. The programme is now active across the city’s local government offices.
