Andrei Bagin named Komi’s new civil defense and emergency chief
Andrei Bagin, a native of Syktyvkar, the capital of the Republic of Komi, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Republic of Komi’s Civil Defense and Emergency Situations Committee. The appointment, effective November 6, was announced by Rostislav Goldstein, the Head of the Republic of Komi.
Bagin, born on December 15, 1988, in Syktyvkar, brings a wealth of local knowledge and experience to his new role. He graduated from Syktyvkar State University with degrees in ecology and law in 2012–2013. His career in the Republic of Komi’s administration began in 2012, working at the State Budgetary Institution ‘Republican Center for the Management of Specially Protected Natural Areas’ until 2017.
During his tenure, Bagin also served as a consultant and expert in the Analytical and Expertise Department of the Protocol and Oversight Directorate under the Head of the Republic of Komi’s Administration from 2017 to 2020. He then led the Mobilization Directorate under the Head of the Republic of Komi’s Administration before heading the Expert Department at the State Budgetary Institution ‘Center for Administrative Support to the Head of the Republic of Komi’ from February 2020 to January 2023.
Rostislav Goldstein praised Bagin's appointment, stating that his local knowledge and experience will significantly enhance the effectiveness of civil defense in the Republic of Komi. As the new chairman, Bagin will oversee the committee responsible for preparing and responding to various emergency situations, ensuring the safety and security of the Republic of Komi's residents.
