Aurich: Multiple Traffic Accidents and Fire Over Weekend
Aurich hit by fire and multiple traffic crashes in chaotic weekend
Several traffic accidents in Aurich on Friday evening left multiple people seriously injured. In one collision at the junction of Am Hilgenholt and Oldersumer Straße, a 36-year-old driver failed to yield to a 22-year-old woman driving a Mini Cooper.
Both drivers sustained severe injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals. Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the crash.
In a separate incident, police stopped a 25-year-old motorist who was driving without a valid license and under the influence of drugs. A preliminary roadside test came back positive, prompting officers to take a blood sample. The man was prohibited from continuing his journey, and legal proceedings have been initiated.
Early Saturday morning, a garden shed caught fire in an allotment colony along Husteder Weg. Firefighters managed to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring plots. While no one was injured, the blaze caused significant property damage.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
