Bergisch Gladbach launches City Youth Council to amplify young voices
We are publishing a contribution from the Folke Bernadotte Scout Group.
Bergisch Gladbach has always had a vibrant culture of children's and youth organizations. However, until now, these groups have lacked a unified alliance to present a strong, collective voice to the outside world. We aim to change this with the establishment of a City Youth Council.
A Youth Council is an association of local (non-partisan) youth organizations working together to strengthen youth advocacy and representation. It also serves as a unified representative body in youth policy matters, engaging with the city administration and local government. Bergisch Gladbach has never had such an alliance—likely none has existed in the city's history.
Call to Children's and Youth Organizations
Representatives of youth organizations will gather for a founding assembly on March 2 at 7:00 PM at Quirlsberg 1. The meeting will first focus on adopting bylaws and electing an initial executive board. Following the official proceedings, there will be an exchange with representatives from the city administration and local politics.
The organizers urge all youth organizations to participate in establishing the City Youth Council. Its strength lies in the diversity of its member groups and their collective expertise. The council also needs an executive board, and members are still being sought. Those interested or seeking further information are welcome to contact [email protected].
