Berlin finally corrects 150-year-old spelling blunder on Leibnizstraße signs
Berlin (dpa/bb) — The misspelled name on multiple street signs for Leibnizstraße in Berlin-Charlottenburg has now been corrected. The contracted company has since installed three new signs, according to Infrasignal, the firm responsible for traffic lights and other infrastructure in Berlin. "This was a production error that unfortunately went unnoticed by the subcontractor," the company stated.
On three signs at the intersection with Bismarckstraße, an extra "t" had appeared, rendering the name as "Leibnitzstraße." The street, which ends at the famous Kurfürstendamm, has borne the name of philosopher, mathematician, jurist, and polymath Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646–1716) since 1869.
