Berlin paramedic assaulted by three men after aiding intoxicated woman
An emergency responder was attacked by three men in Berlin’s Neukölln district early on Sunday morning. The incident took place on Fuldastraße after paramedics were called to assist a heavily intoxicated woman. The responder suffered injuries and has since left active service.
The assault began at around 12:30 AM when a coffee shop owner became involved in a verbal dispute with the responder. He then punched and kicked the emergency worker, prompting a 45-year-old bystander and an unidentified third man to join the attack. The bystander and the third assailant struck the responder from behind.
During the confrontation, the responder grabbed a beer bottle in self-defence and threatened the attackers with it. The injured medic reported head pain and was taken to hospital for outpatient treatment. Police arrived at the scene and recorded the identities of the coffee shop owner and the 45-year-old bystander. Both were later released from custody, while the third attacker fled before officers could detain him. The Violent Crimes Unit of Police Directorate 5 (City) has taken over the investigation.
The responder has since stepped down from active duty following the attack. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, though no arrests have been made so far. The case remains open as police seek to identify the third assailant.
