Berlin preschooler digs up gold, cash, and luxury watches in playground
A preschooler in Berlin made an unusual discovery while playing in a Wilmersdorf playground. Among the sand and bushes, the child unearthed silver coins, gold jewellery, luxury watches, and a stash of €6,000 in cash. The find has since sparked a police investigation into the origin of the hidden treasure. The incident took place during a daycare outing when the young child stumbled upon the buried items. Some were hidden in the ground, while others lay beneath nearby bushes. Alongside the coins and cash, the group also found a small gold bar among the collection.
A daycare worker and a parent quickly gathered the items and contacted the authorities. Police arrived to secure the cache and began examining its contents. Officers are now working to determine whether the valuables might be linked to thefts or other criminal activity. So far, a preliminary check has found no matches between the discovered goods and any reported stolen property. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives explore possible leads.
The playground discovery has left police with more questions than answers. With no immediate links to thefts, the source of the buried valuables stays unclear. Authorities continue to examine the items in hopes of tracing their origins.
