A vehicle was completely destroyed by fire in Bremen-Vegesack overnight from Thursday to Friday. A second vehicle's fire was prevented before it could spread. Police are now seeking witnesses.
Just after midnight, the owner of a car alerted firefighters after hearing loud bangs on Arend-Klauke-Straße and discovering his vehicle engulfed in flames. Fire crews extinguished the blaze, and police launched an investigation.
At around 02:47 AM, a witness on Fähgrund—not far from the first fire—saw two unknown individuals tampering with the tires of a parked car. When confronted, the pair fled. Moments later, the witness noticed smoke coming from the front tires and called the police. Responders used a fire extinguisher to prevent the car from catching fire.
Bremen police are investigating the incident as attempted arson.
Authorities are examining whether the two cases are connected. Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in Arend-Klauke-Straße, Fähgrund, or the surrounding area is urged to come forward.
