Brothers' feud turns violent after dirt and water attack in Lucerne

A long-running family dispute turned violent on a warm May evening in Lucerne canton. Two brothers, locked in a feud, clashed after one allegedly targeted the other's home with dirt and water. The confrontation escalated into a physical attack, leaving one woman injured and the courts to decide the outcome.

The trouble began when the accused spread dirt and soaked a shared access road with a hose, deliberately annoying his brother and sister-in-law. Later that evening, the woman moved the hose to stop the water flow. Seeing this, the man approached her 'quickly and furiously', according to court records.

He then picked up a rock and threatened the woman before her husband stepped in. The situation worsened when the accused lunged at her, grabbed her, and forced her to the ground. In response, the woman sprayed him in the face with a garden hose, giving her husband time to disarm him. The public prosecutor's office issued a penal order against the man for threats and assault. Despite his denial of physical violence, the Hochdorf District Court, Lucerne Cantonal Court, and Federal Supreme Court all found him guilty based on the victims' testimony. The accused objected to the ruling, but the courts upheld it.

The man received a suspended fine of 20 daily rates at 140 Swiss francs each, along with a two-year probation period. An additional 600 francs fine was also imposed. The legal process confirmed the assault, closing the case after multiple appeals.
