City centre's youth services get a modern revamp through new partnerships
The future of youth services in the city centre is taking shape through a joint effort. Since June 2025, the city administration, the Evangelical Church, and Q1 have been working together to realign open youth and children’s programs. Their aim is to create modern, flexible services that meet the changing needs of the area—particularly in the emerging Zanders district. Q1 has already begun offering open programs at Gleispark, which opened on May 9, 2026. This park, along with the future Zentralwerkstatt (Central Workshop), will function as a socio-cultural hub for youth work. The city and the Evangelical Church are now exploring options for a permanent space in the city centre to expand these efforts.
No final decisions have been made about Q1’s future location. The administration is still assessing professional, urban planning, and financial requirements before presenting a clear proposal to political bodies. Until then, the current Q1 youth centre will not remain unchanged in the long run. The process remains open, with the city committed to working constructively with all involved parties. Once the necessary details are confirmed, a transparent and decision-ready plan will be submitted for political approval.
The collaboration between the city, the Evangelical Church, and Q1 aims to develop youth services that adapt to future needs. A new youth centre and updated programs are expected to take form once funding, planning, and political steps are finalised. The focus remains on creating accessible, demand-driven spaces for young people in the city centre.
