Claudia Hölbling to Lead Wiesbaden's Cultural Office in 2026

Claudia Hölbling will take over as head of Wiesbaden’s Cultural Office on June 1, 2026. She replaces Jörg-Uwe Funk, who is stepping down after years of leading the city’s cultural development. The office plays a central role in shaping Wiesbaden’s arts and events scene. Hölbling brings extensive experience to the position. She previously directed the Wiesbaden Music Academy and oversaw the Wiesbaden School of Music and Art. More recently, she served as deputy head of the Cultural Office, where she launched several cultural projects.

Her vision for the role focuses on connection and acceleration. She sees culture as an open, evolving space that thrives on participation and collaboration. Her goal is to strengthen ties between existing initiatives and foster new partnerships.

Jörg-Uwe Funk leaves behind a strong legacy. During his tenure, he bolstered independent cultural organisations and expanded major events. Cultural Councilor Dr. Hendrik Schmehl recognised Funk’s dedication, noting his significant impact on the city’s cultural landscape.

The Wiesbaden Cultural Office remains a key institution. It organises events, supports grassroots initiatives, and guides major cultural bodies. Its work ensures the city’s artistic and creative sectors continue to grow. Hölbling’s appointment marks a new chapter for Wiesbaden’s cultural leadership. She will build on Funk’s achievements while introducing her own approach to collaboration and innovation. The Cultural Office will continue its central role in coordinating the city’s diverse cultural activities.
