Drunk driver crashes into tree while using phone in Brake
A 63-year-old driver crashed into a tree on Norderfeld Street in Brake on Saturday evening. The incident happened near the B212 around 8:15 p.m., leaving the motorist with minor injuries and the vehicle heavily damaged. The man lost control of his car in a gentle left-hand bend. Instead of staying on the road, the vehicle veered off and struck a tree. Police later confirmed he was driving under the influence, with a blood alcohol reading of 1.67 per mille.
Authorities also discovered he had been using his mobile phone while driving. Officers took a blood sample at the scene and immediately banned him from continuing his journey. The combined damage to the car and the tree is estimated at around €3,000. Criminal charges have now been filed against the driver.
The crash resulted in minor injuries for the man and significant damage to property. Police investigations are ongoing, with the driver facing legal consequences for drink-driving and phone use behind the wheel.
