Cologne Central Station unveils Deutsche Bahn's newly renovated travel hub
Deutsche Bahn has reopened its travel centre at Cologne Central Station after a major renovation. The updated space now includes 16 service counters spread across 320 square metres. Alongside this, the DB Lounge in the same station has also reopened with improved facilities.
The newly refurbished travel centre in Cologne is part of Deutsche Bahn's ongoing modernisation efforts. The redesign follows similar upgrades in Düsseldorf, Nuremberg, Hamburg, and two Berlin locations. This makes Cologne the sixth station to receive the updated layout.
The DB Lounge at Cologne Central Station has also reopened, offering 100 seats split between premium and comfort areas. Spanning 448 square metres, it joins the network of 13 lounges operated nationwide. In 2025 alone, these lounges served around 3.3 million passengers. Further upgrades are planned for 2026, with Mannheim, Dresden, and Göttingen set to receive modernised lounges. Earlier plans to update all 15 existing lounges by 2024 were adjusted, and some locations, such as Ulm, have since been dropped from the programme.
The renovations in Cologne mark another step in Deutsche Bahn's nationwide improvements. With six locations already updated and three more planned for 2026, the company continues to expand its modernised travel services. The changes aim to provide better facilities for the millions of passengers using these spaces each year.
