Deadly Pattensen crash leaves three critically injured after suspected street race
A serious crash in Pattensen left three people with severe injuries on Thursday evening. The accident took place on Koldinger Straße when a Cadillac skidded out of control in a roundabout. Police suspect the vehicle was involved in an illegal street race at the time. The 50-year-old driver lost control of the Cadillac before it collided head-on with a tree. He was airlifted to hospital by rescue helicopter, while two passengers—a 24-year-old and a 34-year-old—were taken to separate hospitals by ambulance.
The crash site remained closed until 1:00 AM as emergency crews carried out rescue operations and reconstructed the accident. Authorities conducted a blood test on the driver, though results are still pending.
Police are now investigating potential illegal street racing and hit-and-run offences linked to the incident. Witnesses with information have been asked to contact Hanover’s traffic accident unit. The accident has prompted an ongoing investigation into dangerous driving and possible racing activities. Emergency services worked through the night to clear the scene, while the injured remain under medical care. Authorities continue to seek witness accounts to clarify the events leading up to the crash.
