False alarm at Halle's State Museum of Prehistory sparks early-morning scare
Residents near the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle (Saale) were startled by an early-morning alarm on Monday. The disturbance came after automatic burglar detectors inside the museum were activated just after 5:15 a.m. The alarm system at the museum, home to the renowned Nebra Sky Disk, triggered unexpectedly. Security protocols were immediately activated, prompting a full inspection of the premises.
A detailed check found no signs of intrusion or damage. Once the all-clear was confirmed, the system was reset to normal operation.
The incident caused a brief disruption for nearby residents and museum staff. After the inspection, authorities confirmed no threat to the building or its artefacts. Normal operations resumed shortly afterwards.
