Drug-sniffing dog uncovers cocaine, Ecstasy, and marijuana in A3 motorway bust
Customs officers have seized a significant quantity of drugs from a passenger travelling on the A3 motorway near Straubing-Bogen. The operation involved a drug-sniffing dog and led to the discovery of multiple narcotics concealed in a suitcase and on the man’s person. The incident began when officers from the Furth im Wald Traffic Routes Control Unit stopped a bus on the A3. A Nigerian national aboard the vehicle raised suspicion after the bus driver revealed he had an extra bag in the cargo hold—something the passenger initially denied owning.
A drug-sniffing dog named Cessy alerted officers to the suitcase, where they found around 210 grams of marijuana. Inside the luggage, investigators also uncovered three packages of cocaine, totalling 132.8 grams. Two of these were small, likely intended for body smuggling. Additional items included a digital scale, empty resealable plastic bags, and a bag of white cream. During a personal search, the man was found hiding two Ecstasy tablets wrapped in aluminium foil. When questioned, he claimed to have been visiting family in the Netherlands but admitted he could not locate them. Authorities later issued an arrest warrant on suspicion of unlawfully importing narcotics linked to drug trafficking. The suspect now faces criminal proceedings for violating narcotics laws. Under the Narcotics Act, the offences carry a minimum prison sentence of two years. He was provisionally arrested following the seizure.
The operation resulted in the confiscation of cocaine, marijuana, and Ecstasy, along with paraphernalia suggesting drug distribution. The suspect remains in custody while investigations continue into the source and intended distribution of the seized substances.
