A 22-year-old man allegedly threatened a railway employee and smashed a window at a train station in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Police later tracked him down—and uncovered another offense.

A drunk man threatened and insulted a railway worker at a station in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, police reported. When the Deutsche Bahn employee refused to call him a taxi, the suspect allegedly threatened to assault him on Saturday evening. He then shattered a window of the station building in Dorf Mecklenburg by striking it.

Federal police officers eventually apprehended the 22-year-old at Bad Kleinen station after he continued his journey through the Nordwestmecklenburg district. A breathalyzer test reportedly showed a blood alcohol level of 1.52 per mille. Additionally, he was unable to present a valid ticket. Authorities have launched criminal proceedings for threats, insults, property damage, and fare evasion.

Security Summit Follows Fatal Attack in Rhineland-Palatinate

In Rhineland-Palatinate, a railway employee died after being assaulted during a ticket inspection. According to police findings, a 26-year-old attacked him after being told to leave the train for traveling without a ticket. The 36-year-old worker later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Following a security summit, Deutsche Bahn CEO Evelyn Palla announced measures to improve staff protection, including the widespread introduction of body cameras.
